Outdoor Dream Foundation Hunt In Tattnall County
Craig James | November 20, 2024
On Nov. 8-9 , Blake Jeffers of the Guide to Georgia Outdoors YouTube channel hosted the fourth annual Outdoor Dream Foundation hunt on his family farm in Tattnall County.
Originally slated for the weekend of Oct. 8, the event was rescheduled due to the recent destruction of Hurricane Helene.
“It’s been a mess down here, but we weren’t going to let that stop us from having this event. It’s the highlight of our year to spend time with these kids, and we were going to make sure that we made it happen,” said Blake.
The event normally hosts a total of eight kids and their families, but due to the rescheduled date, five children were able to attend the two-day event.
“We make sure it’s a fun weekend for everyone, and all the kids have to do is show up and have fun. On Friday afternoon, we get the kids out there and get the guns sighted in first. Then each child receives a gift bag with over $200 worth of goodies provided by the Tattnall Evans Limbhanger Local Chapter of the NWTF,” said Blake.
“Each child was then paired with a guide and provided the appropriate equipment to accommodate their specific needs. The kids managed to kill four deer on the first evening, and then Harry’s Barbecue, of Hagan, provided a huge supper for the 60 to 70 folks attending the event.”
On Saturday morning, another deer hit the dirt, and everyone was provided a huge breakfast that was cooked by the Tattnall Evans Limb Hangers before the weekend festivities ended. Additionally, every child was sent home with processed deer meat for their efforts in the woods.
Children that killed bucks will receive a free Euro mount from White Lightning Taxidermy in Cobbtown and will be presented with it at the annual Outdoor Dream Foundation banquet in Royston in February. That huge event in February will host more than 1,000 people, and every child will get to walk across the stage to celebrate their accomplishments.
“These kids are what it’s all about. To see the joy they have in the outdoors makes it all worthwhile. I’m so thankful for the village of people who made this happen. There’s so many awesome folks that make this event possible. I’m thankful to God that I get to be a part of it,” said Blake.
