Opening Day Buck On Video For Young Hunter
The camera was rolling as 9-year-old Andrew Bruce got it done early this deer season.
Nine-year-old Andrew Bruce, of Newborn, didn’t let much of the 2023 Georgia deer season slip by before he downed a nice 8-point buck. Andrew was with his father TJ the evening of opening day of archery season when he shot the buck while hunting with a crossbow. Their property is on the Morgan/Newton County line.
“It rained like crazy, then it stopped, and the deer started moving like crazy,” TJ said.
TJ said, “It takes extra work to make it happen, but it’s worth it. You have to watch the hunt through a viewfinder or you’ll end up videoing your feet. But they enjoy it, and someday down the road these kids will appreciate having these.”
Andrew’s sister Hadleigh, 13, plays softball for Morgan County. Practice was rained out on Thursday, Sept. 14, and Hadleigh and a friend wanted to go deer hunting.
“I took her and friend and put them in a Redneck Blind, and they shot a doe on video. It was awesome, they did it all by themselves,” TJ said.
When Hadleigh was 11, she shot a 142-inch buck, another Bruce family hunt captured on video.
