No. 2 Typical 2022 Bow Buck Caught On Realtree Road Trips
The Realtree camera was rolling, and the footage is fantastic.

A 5 1/2-year-old Harris County buck netting 157 4/8 inches is Georgia’s No. 2 typical bow buck taken last season. The hunter, Tyler Jordan with Realtree, had been watching the main-frame 12-pointer for three years before finally taking him with his Hoyt RX-7 bow on Oct. 18.
“I love traveling the country and hunting deer, but there’s just something about getting the opportunity to hunt a deer like this on your own farm,” said Tyler. “Being a part of the overall plan and strategy on this deer is so rewarding when you are able to finish it off.”
The buck earned the nickname Hayblower.
“I came up with the name the year before we killed him because the field he hung out the most in had an old hayblower that sat there for years, but that’s the only spot we ever really got him on camera in 2021,” said Tyler.
Tyler’s first in-person look at Hayblower took place the second week of the 2022 archery season, but things didn’t go as planned.
“We could have gotten lucky that day, but I pushed in on a light and variable wind. He didn’t blow, but he definitely knew we were in the area,” said Tyler. “He actually never daylighted on that camera again after that evening. Four more nighttimes pictures and then he disappeared.”
When he showed back up on camera, he was 300 yards away in a food plot called The Orchard, which is where Tyler ended up killing him on Oct. 18.
“It was cold and windy, the first cold front of the season. I remember it being very overcast and smelling that cold air. The wind was gusting all evening long,” said Tyler.
Sitting in a Primal Ladder Stand, six does came out about 30 minutes after Tyler was settled in the stand. They didn’t stick around long, leaving the field empty for about an hour before Hayblower made his appearance. Matt Garger was in the tree with Tyler capturing all the footage for Realtree Road Trips and Realtree’s YouTube channel.
“He came out by himself,” said Tyler. “He walked toward us to one of the crabapple trees that was on the edge of the field. He turned broadside and was about to start eating them.”
The buck was 30 yards and quartering away when Tyler let the arrow fly. Hayblower ran out of the field but only made it 80 yards before piling up.
Tyler said it took a good plan and the right strategy to kill the state’s No 1 typical bow buck.
“Patience is key,” said Tyler. “Don’t go into an area until the conditions are right. With it being so early in the season, I wasn’t going to contaminate that area with my scent until I felt the weather and overall situation played to my favor.”
Tyler said it was certainly a celebration for friends and family when they recovered Hayblower.
“We were stoked, but dad (Realtree President Bill Jordan) may have been the most excited for me. He knew how much time and effort we put on this deer since summer,” said Tyler. “This means everything. It’s what I’ve grown up doing my whole life and it’s what I love doing the most with friends and family.”
Tyler’s buck is the No. 6 bow buck of all-time for Harris County. GON has been the record keeper for Georgia whitetails since the early 1990s. Currently, there are more than 13,000 records in its online Georgia Deer Records database.
