GON Staff | August 24, 2019

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has set the deer hunting dates for the 2019 season at the corps’ Bussey Point Management Area.

Bussey Point is a 2,545-acre peninsula located in Lincoln County on Clarks Hill Lake (J. Storm Thurmond Reservoir). All hunts are limited to 100 hunters per day. Hunters are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. The bag limit is two does and one quality buck each day of each hunt. Quality bucks must have racks with 4 points or more on at least one side, or a 15-inch or greater outside spread.

For the 2019 season, Bussey Point will hold two archery-only hunts Sept. 20-21 and Oct. 11, and two muzzleloader hunts on Oct. 12 and Nov. 8-9.

Hunters must check in through the check station located at the entrance gate. Hunting hours run from one hour before sunrise through one hour after sundown. Georgia hunting licenses are required; however, this is not a state WMA, so a Georgia WMA license is not required. Licenses will be inspected and collected along with vehicle tag number. Licenses will be returned at check out. Officials strictly enforce all state regulations and bag limits.
