BQI Offering Youth Quail Hunts
Application deadline is Oct. 15.

WRD Biologist Reggie Thackston gets a child-like grin on his face when you talk about good dog work and a south Georgia covey rise on a cold morning. Along with enjoying a good quail hunt, Reggie has been instrumental in the state’s success of its Bobwhite Quail Initiative program. He contacted GON a few weeks ago so that our readers could apply for a couple of adult/youth (10-17 years of age) quota quail hunts on private BQI properties.
How To Apply: Apply by letter to the following address: Attn: Quota Quail Hunt, 116 Rum Creek Drive, Forsyth, GA 31029.
Applications must include: hunt choices in priority order, full names, SSNs, addresses, dates of birth (for hunters 10-17 years of age) and names and phone numbers of supervising adults. If you have a rejection letter from a previous year, please include this with the application.
Youths are required to have completed a hunter-education course, and an adult supervisor must accompany each youth. Party applications of two youth/adult pairs per hunt will be accepted. Only youth are allowed to shoot. Hunters are encouraged to bring their own bird dogs, but in the event that this is not possible, dogs may be provided.
Application deadline is Oct. 15.
Selected hunters will receive a permit by mail and will be contacted by WRD personnel to arrange a time and place to meet on the day of the hunt. Permits are non-transferable. Hunters not selected will be notified by mail. If you have questions, call (478) 994-7583.
