The power of the internet…

On Oct. 5, GON released a story about Ava Morgan, 13, of Wray, shooting two deer with one shot from her crossbow,  Part of that story included the fact that Ava saved up her own money over the summer and bought a crossbow from Academy Sports + Outdoors in Valdosta.

Ava Morgan was surprised with a $250 shopping spree at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Valdosta after an article was released on gon.com about a crossbow purchase she made in their story.

Well, some of the higher-ups with Academy got wind of that young lady working hard, saving money and decided to put her cash down on the counter of Academy Sports. They wanted to pay it back as a way to thank Ava for doing business with them, as well as congratulate her on her two deer.

A press release from Academy Sports reports, “On Saturday (Nov. 6), Academy Sports + Outdoors in Valdosta provided a $250 shopping spree to a local teen who arrowed two deer with one shot with a bow and arrow she purchased from the store. Academy Sports + Outdoors was excited to present Ava with a $250 gift card to shop the store and help her continue to pursue her passions.”

“She was surprised—she had fun in there for about an hour,” said Terry Morgan, her dad.

Ava used her $250 gift card to purchase a crossbow case, a North Face jacket, a pair of inline skates, some camo hunting boots and a basketball.
