The below short story is about a 10-year-old girl named Anna Grace Scarborough who shot a 10-pointer in Johnson County on Oct. 24 in loving memory of her late Papa.
From The Scarborough Family
Anna Grace lost her Papa, Johnny Scarborough, back in February of this year. Her and her Papa shared the passion of hunting together. It was something that the two of them really enjoyed doing.
Anna Grace told her daddy that she really wanted to hunt out of Papa’s stand this year. Since the beginning of hunting season, she’s been hunting his stand hard, watching some smaller bucks but waiting and watching for this one particular deer. She killed this 10-pointer in her Papa’s stand, with his 30-30 and wearing those same overalls that she would wear when the two of them would hunt together. It was the most precious moment.
She knows she made him very proud, and he was grinning ear to ear in Heaven. It was one of the best afternoons for the Scarborough family.
