Tournament Reports November 2011

Irie Harkleroad, of Waycross, fished by himself to win the first-ever Fishermen For The Hungry MEGA BUCKS tournament on Lake Blackshear. Fishing alone, Irie boated 14.70 pounds and won $2,500.

“I’m a river fisherman by heart,” said Irie. “I went up the river to the last big bridge, and I just worked my way back down real slowly. It’s no secret. I threw a buzzbait all day and was catching them in 6 feet of water around laydowns in the river. I’m a bank beater.”

He had about seven bites all day throwing the homemade, 3/8-oz. buzzbait. He switched between a white and black bait.
