Lake Worth
Lake Worth, also known as Lake Chehaw, is a small reservoir at the confluence of the Flint River, Kinchafoonee Creek and Muckalee Creek. The concrete Flint River Dam was built in 1908 for hydroelectric generation and is owned by Georgia Power today. Lake Chehaw is very riverine and shallow with average depths of 17 feet. In winter, the lake is drawn down nearly 10 feet in anticipation of flooding spring rains. In the Flood of 1994, the lake overflowed its banks and the dam itself was underwater at one point.

Lake Lanier, West Point Lake, Lake Eufaula and Lake Seminole are always in the headlines…

The anticipation we felt was similar to when Black Shoals Reservoir first opened to fishing — both were trolling-motor-only reservoirs that opened to public fishing after years of delays. No,…
Randy Dover is in a different boat almost every time you pass him on Lake Lanier. Due to his local reputation for knowing the best docks for crappie, you might think his constant selling and buying of boats is his way of throwing other crappie anglers off his trail. Take one look at Randy and…
Bass fishing at Lake Oconee can be fantastic in May. The weather has stabilized, most of the bass are done spawning and are on predictable patterns, and they are feeding heavily. Throw in the end of the shad spawn, and you can have some of the best action of the year. As anyone who has…
