Lake Worth

Lake Worth, also known as Lake Chehaw, is a small reservoir at the confluence of the Flint River, Kinchafoonee Creek and Muckalee Creek. The concrete Flint River Dam was built in 1908 for hydroelectric generation and is owned by Georgia Power today. Lake Chehaw is very riverine and shallow with average depths of 17 feet. In winter, the lake is drawn down nearly 10 feet in anticipation of flooding spring rains. In the Flood of 1994, the lake overflowed its banks and the dam itself was underwater at one point.

What do these varied presentations have in common? They are all methods I have used to…

Lineside Action Heats Up With Cold Weather On Carters

Two Burton Lake-Record Smallmouth

Six months after the first smallmouth bass ever documented in Lake Burton was caught, that lake record has been broken twice by some impressive bronzebacks. On July 7, 2008, David Roane, of Atlanta, was fishing at Burton with a blue-and-chrome colored Krocodile spoon. At about 11 a.m. a hefty fish hit — an unusual fish.…

Lake-Record, 36-lb. Blackshear Appaloosa Caught On Jigging Spoon

Living on Lake Blackshear, Mike Bullington used to be involved in the bass-tournament scene, but an unusual pattern he discovered three years ago while fishing for deep bass has turned him into a catfish angler for a couple months each year. That pattern landed him the new lake-record appaloosa (flathead) catfish on Nov. 2, 2008,…
