Lake Weiss

Weiss Lake is located mostly in northeastern Alabama and is owned and operated by the Alabama Power Co. The lake consists of 30,200 acres and is fed from the Coosa River, Chattooga River (Alabama–Georgia) and Little River, offering over 447 miles  of shoreline and fishing cover that ranges from shallow flats to deep channel ledges.

Weiss: Level: 0.2 feet below 564. Temp: 78-80 degrees. Clarity: Light stain. Multiple Species: Guide Mark Collins reports, “Bass fishing is good, and some have started moving shallow in the bays on secondary points. Creek and river channel ledges are still producing using Carolina rigs and crankbaits. Crappie fishing is fair, and they are on the creek and river channel ledges and deeper brush. They can be caught spider rigging with live minnows over deep brush. Shooting docks with jigs is also producing some fish, Look for the crappie to really start biting as the water cools down. Striper fishing is good, and they are being caught in Little River and the Chattooga River on live shad downlined and freelined.
