Trout Fly of the Month – October
Wooly Bugger
Josh Barnett | October 5, 2006
Explosive strikes are what you have to look forward to when fishing a Wooly Bugger. My favorite style of fishing streamers is to cast downstream and at an angle toward the bank. This sets your fly up for what I call a “dead-and-dodging” retrieve – by quickly stripping in the line you are essentially imitating the swimming action of injured baitfish or a baitfish being followed by something that might injure it. Hold on tight and wait for that magnificent strike!
