Marben PFA Fishing Reports – January 2008

GON Staff | January 22, 2008

Marben PFA: Level: Some ponds, including Shepherd and Whitetail, are full. Bennett is the lowest, and its boat ramp remains closed. Other ponds are 1 to 2 feet low. Clarity: Clear. Temp: 52 degrees.

Bass: Slow. Try deep water adjacent to submerged creek channels in Fox and Bennett lakes with plastic worms and jigs.

Crappie: Good. Fox and Margery lakes have been the most consistent for crappie, with most being caught while trolling chartreuse or white jigs at 6 to 10 feet deep. Bank anglers are catching a few crappie by casting jigs with a float and retrieving slowly.

Bream:
Slow. Some shellcrackers are being caught with pink worms fished on the bottom in Fox, Margery and Bennett lakes.

Other: Teal Pond just got a supplemental stocking of catfish. Notice: Teal Pond is only open to fishing for anglers under 16 years of age, but adults are encouraged to assist.
