Lake Tobesofkee Fishing Report March 2013

GON Staff | February 27, 2013

Tobesofkee: Level: Full pool. Temp: Low to mid 50s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. Tournament angler and guide Clayton Batts reports, “Tobesofkee is back up from the wintertime draw-down. Fishing has slowed since the lake came up so fast, but it should get more consistent as the month goes on and more fish move up to begin to spawn. Look for fish that are staging. They’ll be moving into spawning pockets around dock post and rocky banks. Fish the docks with a green-pumpkin Big Bite Baits finesse worm and a 1/8-oz. Fish Catchin Fool tungsten weight, and also fish and the rocky banks leading into the pockets with a Spro Little John in the spring-craw color. As the month progresses, fish farther back into the pockets with those two same baits, and mix in a Spro Aruku Shad in the middle of the pockets. Then try a chartreuse-white Picasso spinnerbait in the very backs of the pockets. If the weather gets warm by the end of March, start looking for beds around sandy areas in these pockets. The bedding fish can be caught on a variety of baits, but my favorites for Tobesofkee are a white Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog for smaller fish, especially buck bass, and a Big Bite Baits Warmouth with a 3/8-oz. Fish Fatchin Fool tungsten weight and 17-lb. GAMMA copolymer line.”
