Lake Tobesofkee Fishing Report July 2015

GON Staff | June 25, 2015

Tobesofkee: Bass: Tournament angler Clayton Batts reports, “The bite has been good for the most part of June but will begin to slow down as the water temperatures begin to the upper 80s by the first part of July. The best bite will be early and late with a Pop-R around main-lake grass and seawalls where bream and shad are present. The mid-day bite is very tough on Tobesofkee due to all the boat traffic and the significant thermocline that sets up on Tobesofkee. Look for bass on main-lake humps and points around 12 feet. The best baits for catching these bass are a 6-inch Big Bite Baits finesse worm on either a Carolina rig or drop shot. The other daytime option is to just stay shallow and fish docks and man-made brushpiles. These bass can be caught on the same finesse worm mentioned above or a watermelon-red Big Bite Baits Trick Stick. The nighttime bite will begin to take over as July moves along. The bass that have been suspending all day will move up around brushpiles and rip-rap to take advantage of the cooler water temperatures to feed. Throw a Big Bite Baits black or black-with-blue-glitter finesse worm on a 3/16-oz. Gamakatsu Alien Head to catch these bass that have moved up around rip-rap and brush.”
