Lake Tobesofkee Fishing Report – February 2009

GON Staff | January 27, 2009

Tobesofkee: Level: 6 feet below full pool for special draw-down until Feb. 8. Temp: 48-52 degrees. Clarity: Heavily stained.

Bass: Very good. Clayton Batts reports: “The bass are still up shallow and biting. I have not caught a fish over 6 feet deep since the lake has been down. For the shallow fish in the 1- to 3-foot range, burn a Spro Aruku Shad Jr. in chrome-blue or firetiger around any rocky bank. For the fish that are a little deeper, throw a Spro Little John in firetiger or cell mate colors. Throw this bait around any wind-blown point or any bank that you know has stumps on it. The lake will soon be going back up, so don’t count on the crankbait bite to last all of February. When the lake starts to come back up to full pool, look for the crankbait bite to almost disappear and the jig bite to take over. Throw a Spro black-and-blue finesse jig with a Big Bite Baits trailer around any isolated cover on the main lake. The numbers of fish will be down, but there will still be a quality bite on the jig.”
