Lake Tobesofkee Fishing Report – December 2008

GON Staff | November 26, 2008

Tobesofkee: Level: Full pool. Temp: 54-59 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Special Notice:
Tobesofkee will be drawn down 6 feet this winter. The drawdown begins Dec. 5 and lasts until Jan. 31.

Bass:
“There will be a good jig bite at the first of December before the lake begins to drop,” said Clayton Batts. “Fish a black-and-blue Spro Finesse jig with a Big Bite Baits green-pumpkin chunk around any deeper bank that still has some grass present or has rock on it. There will also be a good spinnerbait bite around seawalls and grass as long as there is water on them. If the bite gets tough before the lake gets drawn down, fish a 1/8-oz. Big Bite Baits shaky head with a red-bug finesse worm around deeper docks. You will only need one bait when the lake starts to come down, a crankbait. The crankbait bite will remain the dominant pattern as long as the lake is down. Look for any rocky bank or point that runs out when the lake is down, and if the wind is blowing in on it, even better. Fish these rocky banks and points with a Spro Little John crankbait in citrus shad and old glory or a Stanford Lures Razor Shad in sexy shad.”
