Lake Tobesofkee Fishing Report April 2013

GON Staff | March 27, 2013

Tobesofkee: Level: Full pool. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. Tournament angler and guide Clayton Batts reports, “Spring is here, and the fish are biting. Search for bass moving back into spawning areas with a Spro Little John crankbait in spring craw or a Stanford Lures Patriot Shad in south Georgia melon. Another good option this month will be covering the backs of the pockets with a chartreuse/white Picasso spinnerbait. As the month rolls along, look for bass around the sandy areas in these pockets. If the water stays muddy, flip any shallow dock post, wood cover and grass with a Big Bite Baits Yomama in hematoma for spawning fish that you can’t see. If the water clears up, keep your Minn Kota on high looking for fish that are locked on the beds. When you find a fish on bed, be as quiet as possible, and let your Power-Poles down where you can barely see the bed. These fish can be caught on a variety of baits, depending on the fish’s mood. My favorite bait to bed fish with at Tobesofkee is a white Big Bite Baits fighting frog or a Big Bite Baits warmouth.”
