Lake Seminole Fishing Report – June 2022
GON Staff | May 26, 2022
Seminole: Level: 0.7 feet below 77.5. Temp: Low 80s. Clarity: Mostly clear.
Bass: Guide Aaron Crews reports, “Bass are on a strong frog bite now. Topwater lures such as frogs, poppers, Bang O Lures with a tail spinner, buzzbaits and topwaters with front and rear spinners should be good May through June. Fish Texas-rigged worms and Trick Worms on the edges of grasslines. A ledge pattern is developing. Fish deep crankbaits, a Little George, Carolina rigs, a Ledge Buster spinnerbait and 10- to 12-inch worms. I generally prefer Mann’s blueberry or strawberry worms or Zoom Ole Monster worms in red shad or black and blue bruiser. If the school turns off on one bait, then go to the others I’ve listed. It’ll reactivate the ledge fish.”
Guide Chris Taylor reports, “It is a big-fish year here at Seminole with three fish over 10 pounds being caught in the last three months. With June arriving, be prepared to catch your personal best as it is one of my favorite months to fish. The topwater bite will be on fire at daybreak. Randy Weaver caught a 10.6 on topwater on May 20. Fish along grasslines/points close to deep water, focusing on irregularities such as ends and dips in the grass. Throw shad-colored poppers or prop baits. As the sun comes up, transition to a Texas rig big worm or a Senko. My go-to bait is a CountryBoy Baits Po’ Boy in junebug red. Depending on your fishing style, you can also target fish on ledges with spoons and big crankbaits. Try dropping a Nichols Lures Lake Fork flutter spoon in shattered glass silver, letting it fall through a school and snapping it up, letting it flutter back down. Expect the bite to happen on the fall. The frog bite is also good around bream beds midday through evening, as well. We look for this pattern to continue as we settle into our summer pattern.”
