Lake Seminole Fishing Report – January 2008

GON Staff | January 3, 2008

Seminole: Level: 0.7 feet below full pool. Temp: Low to mid 60s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. The shad are still in the grass, and there is a good bite on the main-lake grass points. A small crankbait fished along the grass is hard to beat right now for numbers and size. Any crankbait that dives into the 4- to 6-foot range will work, but a Lucky Craft in citrus is the hot bait right now. Also, a 1/2-oz. red Rat-L-Trap on the flats in 7 to 8 feet of water should produce some fish. If you want to fish soft plastics, a Carolina-rigged floating worm on a light weight can be a great bait to dance above the grass this time of year. Watermelon and watermelon red are good colors. If cold weather sets in, look for bass to move out on the main-channel ledges.
