Lake Seminole Fishing Report – August 2022
GON Staff | July 25, 2022
Seminole: Level: 0.6 feet below 77.5. Temp: High 80s to low 90s. Clarity: Recent rains each evening will change this water is slightly stained to clear in some areas.
Bass: Guide Aaron Crews reports, “For bass fishing, nighttime is best. Many of the tournaments are nighttime, three-fish tournaments. For low-light conditions, topwater like a buzzbait, Jitterbug, Whopper Plopper, Rico and the Bang O Lure with a tail spinner are good baits. Fish 10-inch plastic worms and flip or punch grass and mats. This has become a primary technique during August. Night fishing is something you really need to know the lake for. I recommend you have a good rechargeable head lamp with multiple colors and a good bow light. If ledge fishing, I generally use plastic worms 8 to 12 inches. I also use jigs in 1/2- to 1 1/2-oz. Some other baits are deep-diving crankbaits, like a DD22, jigging spoons in 3/8- to 1-oz. and a Ledge Buster spinnerbait in 1/2- to 1 1/2-oz. I like ledges where submerged points come together, like where a creek meets a river. I fish the upcurrent side. This spot has more underwater logs and limbs that have come down with the current. More often than not I fish up the ledge rather than down.”
Guide Paul Tyre, of Lake Seminole Fishing Adventures, reports, “The bass fishing has been very good through July. The topwater action has been incredible. The great topwater action will continue through August, especially in the early morning and evening hours and on cloudy, rainy days. Buzzbaits and hollow-belly frogs have been very productive this month and will continue through the month of August. A buzzbait is an effective lure to cover water efficiently to find the active areas that are holding bass. Once I find a productive area holding bass, the frog is a great option to catch the bigger bass. We have had numerous customers catch their PB this month creating some incredible memories!”

Various Species: Guide Aaron Crews reports, “There are good catches of shellcracker, bluegill and redbreast on worms and crickets. Fly fishermen are doing well. Catfishermen are doing well drifting cutbait. Some are fishing bush hooks and noodles on the Georgia side of the Chattahoochee River. Remember Florida has different rules and regulations.”
