Lake Russell Fishing Report – June 2024

GON Staff | May 29, 2024

Russell: Level: 0.4 below 475. Temp: 75-78 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The fishing has been tough the past few weeks with the postspawn bass migrating back out of the shallows and cicadas everywhere for an easy meal. As we head into June, the fishing should really pick up, especially in the mornings and late in the evenings.  Most of the bass will begin to set up on points and humps around rocks, brush and timber feeding on crayfish, bream and shad. Once I locate fish in these areas, my baits of choice are crankbaits, jigs or a Texas-rigged Zoom Mag II or an Ol’ Monster worm. Later in the month if the fishing gets slower, I will switch to drop shot with a Zoom Swamp Crawler or a finesse worm.”
