Lake Russell Fishing Report – August 2024

GON Staff | August 1, 2024

Russell: Level: Full pool at 475. Temp: Upper 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been a little slower, but they have transitioned to their summer pattern and are a little more predictable as they relate to big pods of bait in the deeper water. We have been catching good numbers of bass 15 to 25 feet on main-lake humps and points around baitfish using a drop shot rigged with a Zoom Swamp Crawler or Finesse worm. This time of year, the evening bite is a little better, too, and you can catch some big largemouth on a Texas-rigged Zoom Ol’ Monster worm. As we head into August, the bite always seems to get a little tough, so I expect the drop shot and Carolina-rigged Zoom Trick Worm or Finesse worm to be the better choices, especially on the deeper drops on the main lake and at the mouths of the creeks.”
