Lake Oconee Fishing Report – November 2008

GON Staff | October 28, 2008

Oconee: Level: Full pool. Temp: 67-69 degrees. Clarity: There is a slight stain except for on the lower end, which is clear.

Bass:
Good. “There are a lot of fish very shallow in the very backs of the coves,” said guide Al Bassett. “Use a small crankbait, a 3/8-oz. Ol-Nelle spinnerbait in white and chartreuse or a shaky-head worm. Start working in the back of the cove, and work your way out, covering a lot of water. Make sure you fish the docks and any wood like a blowdown or a brushpile.”

Crappie:
“Some of the crappie have moved to brush in 15 feet of water, but the fish are only 5 to 7 feet deep,” Al said. “Trolling over water that is 5 feet deep in the backs of the creeks has picked up, but this will only last a short time. Use a Jiffy Jig tipped with a live minnow.”
