Lake Nottely Fishing Reports – May 2023

GON Staff | April 26, 2023

Nottely: Level: 3.5 below 1775. Temp: 64 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Stripers: Guide Jeremy Seabolt, of Lake Nottely Fishing Charter, reports, “What an awesome April it has been. We have been catching most of our fish on jumbo herring and shad. We have been pulling herring 30 to 60 feet back on boards clipping shallow points first thing in the morning. Then in the middle of the morning, we have been catching a lot fish down around the dam freelining herring. We have had a good topwater bite, also. Keep a Fluke Jr. ready. We have also been catching a lot of fish throwing Red Fins and bucktails up on red-clay banks and working them slowly, but the best bite has been on herring. Going into May, we’ll fish a lot of the same waters, but May has always been my best time to catch trophy-sized fish on Nottely. We try to practice catch and release on all our fish over 15 pounds. If you are looking for fish to eat, keep the smaller fish and let the bigger fish grow. Don’t forget, The Bait Shack on Nottely has all your striper live-bait needs. They are located at 696 Deaver Road, 1 mile from the boat ramp.”
