Lake Nottely Fishing Report – September 2009

GON Staff | August 25, 2009

Nottely: Level: 3.5 below full pool. Temp: Low 80s. Clarity: Clear to a little stained in the backs of the creeks from recent rains.

Linesides: Good. Jeremy Seabolt said the big fish are starting to show up, and he’s catching them around points 3 and 4 fishing live blueback herring from 3 to 5 inches long. The fish are scattered from the dam up to point 9, but the fish are smaller around point 9. “You can catch them one after another, but they’re all in the 2- to 3-lb. range,” he said. Fish off rocky banks, and start first thing in the morning with freelined herring. The fish will go deeper through the day and level off with the oxygen level at about 30 feet. There’s also been a decent U-rig bite pulling 140 feet back at 3 1/2 mph. The schooling activity should pick up in mid to late September.
