Lake Nottely Fishing Report May 2017

GON Staff | April 26, 2017

Nottely: Level: 5 feet below full pool. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: mostly clear and slightly stained in the creeks.

Bass: Big Ol’ Fish Guiding Service reports, “Spots are still staging in their spawning areas in shallow points and in the backs of creeks and coves. We have also picked up some nice largemouth in the same areas. The south end of the lake from marker 8 down has been producing some much bigger fish, especially in the backwaters. Early morning to noon topwater bite has been great: Spooks, Red Fins and jerkbaits are working well.”

Stripers: Big Ol’ Fish Guiding Service reports, “We are also hooking up with some huge stripers while working our topwater baits for bass. Once mid-afternoon rolls around, we focus our technique on downlining live blueback herring in slightly deeper water. As this month progresses, look for these fish to start schooling up off of points and around shallow humps, as well as on brushpiles. Our striper and hybrid bite has also been successful out here. This is definitely a great lake to catch a variety of species this time of year.”
