Lake Nottely Fishing Report – January 2023

GON Staff | December 22, 2022

Nottely: Level: 14.4 feet below 1775. Temp: 56-58 degrees.

Stripers: Guide Jeremy Seabolt, of Lake Nottely Fishing Charter, reports, “We have had some nice weather to be fishing for December. We have been catching some nice fish the last few weeks on freelines and downlines out over 30- to 50-foot humps in the mouths of creeks. It is the time year that you have to find the bait and fish it. The fish won’t be far behind. Going into 2023, it looks like the cold weather is showing up, and that means the fish should start pulling up on the rocky banks and points. We always have had a lot of good luck throwing bucktails and weighted flukes mid morning and in the afternoons. The key to catching fish in January is working your baits slow. I will fish the rocky banks slowly, and it’s that time of year to also keep an eye out for the birds to start showing up. If you see them working, it’s a spot you need to fish.”
