Lake Nottely Fishing Report – January 2009

GON Staff | January 5, 2009

Nottely: Level: 12.3 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 40s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. If you can find a break between muddy and clearer water, John Hembry said to fish it with a Deep Little N or a No. 7 Shad Rap in chartreuse/white or firetiger. Fish a shallow-running crankbait in near the bank, and make sure you bounce it off of some type of cover to illicit strikes. Then work your way out deeper with the deeper-running baits. Or, if the crankbaits aren’t working, try fishing a 1/4-oz. bucktail jig in white with a chartreuse trailer. bounce it out from the bank anywhere you can find some clearer water.

Linesides: Good: John said U-rigs are the ticket on Nottely right now, and the hybrids are downlake, from the dam up to point two or three. Try pulling bucktails with either chartreuse or white curly tails.
