Lake Nottely Fishing Report – January 2007

GON Staff | January 2, 2007

Nottely: Level: 16.1 feet below full pool. Temp: 45-48 degrees. Clarity: The main lake is clear, up the river is dingy.

Bass: Good. Fishing guide Nathan Lewis said to start your day with a jigging spoon, and start out working main-lake points watching for brush or drops. “If I catch a fish, I’ll use that as a reference and start concentrating at that depth.” If the jigging spoon comes up empty, Nathan said to tie on a crankbait and start working shoreline cover. “The water temperature has been up and down, and so have the fish. One day they are deep, and the next day they are up on the bank.” Nathan said he has not been successful with topwater plugs on Nottely recently.

Linesides: Good. Stripers and hybrids have been schooling morning, noon and night in the area in front of the dam and up the lake to Point 2 said Nottely linesides guide Jeremy Seabolt. The stripers have been running in the 5- to 20-lb. range. When the fish are up, have a Sammy, Chug Bug, Pencil Popper or fluke ready to cast. When the fish go down pull live bluebacks over the same area.
