Lake Nottely Fishing Report – January 2006

GON Staff | January 1, 2006

Nottely: Level: 14.5 feet below full pool. Temp: 47 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Slow, according to Ronnie McDonald. “The fish were up shallow a couple of weeks ago, but they have been pulling water and the fish have moved off the banks,” he said. A bass tournament in mid December was won with 12 1/2 pounds. The most consistent pattern has been a jig ’n pig, said Ronnie. “Most of the bass have been caught on a green and brown jig or a root-beer colored jig,” he said. “The fish have been coming off rocky points with brush, and the productive depth has been the 15- to 20-foot range.”

Striper/hybrids: The cold water has slowed the bite, said Ronnie. There are a few fish being caught on live bait in the lower end of the lake,” he said. There is no topwater activity.
