Lake Nottely Fishing Report December 2016

GON Staff | November 22, 2016

Nottely: Level: 16.2 feet low. Temp: 60-62 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Linesides: Guide Jeremy Seabolt reports, “We have been pulling planer boards up the creeks first thing in the mornings. We have been starting out in Jakes Creek and pulling large herring and shad 50 or so feet behind the boards. Conley, Jakes and Ivy Log creeks are holding fish. After fish start heading to deeper water, downline herring 15 to 25 feet deep on humps and points that are close to a creek channel. This is one of my more favorite times to fish. There are not many boats on the lake, and the big fish show up. Most our fish are running around 10 to 15 pounds with a 20 thrown in here and there. This time a year can be just as good for a big striper as the spring. December is a good month to throw bucktails and Red Fins to points and busting fish, and the birds should be showing up any time. I have seen a few down around the dam, but if you see birds diving, most times you can catch fish in the spots you see them. If fishing midday, the mouths of creeks have been holding 4- to 8-lb. fish that you can catch on u-rigs and live baits.”
