Lake Nottely Fishing Report – December 2006

GON Staff | November 22, 2006

Nottely: Level: 12.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 52-57 degrees. Clarity: The main lake is clear, up the river is dingy.

Bass: GON contacted fishing guide Nathan Lewis by cell phone while he was on Nottely on November 21 fishing with J.R. Donalson. They were both catching spotted bass by spooning deep ledges. “We picked up one spotted bass from 57 feet, and another from about 27 feet, so we haven’t found the magic depth yet,” said Nathan. “We have caught four spots and one striper so far. One of the spots weighed four pounds. Another one is pretty close to that. The striper weighed about three pounds.” Nathan said they were dropping 6/10-oz. Flex-it spoons and trying to stay right on the lip of sharp drops into the river channel. Nathan said he prefers the 6/10-oz. Flex-it, but for deeper water he will usually switch to a 3/4-oz. spoon so that he has a better feel.

Linesides:
Fair. Guide Jeremy Seabolt said he has been catching hybrids and stripers over the river channel between Point 7 and Point 9. “There’s no size to them,” said Jeremy. “The hybrids are running four to six pounds, the stripers are running six to eight pounds.” Jeremy has had the best luck fishing live bluebacks 15 to 20 feet deep over 30 to 40 feet of water. “Just watch for baitfish, and drop your lines to them,” he said.
