Lake Hartwell Fishing Report – September 2009

GON Staff | August 25, 2009

Hartwell: Level: 5.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 83 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Fair. Josh Fowler reports, “You have to work hard. The lower end of the lake is all about offshore fishing. The fish are grouped up on points, humps and ledges. If you have brush, it creates a sweet spot. The fish are suspended, so use a bait that will stay above the fish. My three choices would be a Ima Lures Skimmer, a Zoom Super Fluke and a 1/4-oz. Scrounger Head jig rigged with the original Zoom Fluke. When you’re fishing the offshore stuff, keep a drop shot or a 1/4-oz. Spot Remover rigged with a finesse worm to drop on any fish you see on the graph. The other option you have is to head up the rivers and fish the backs of the creeks with a Texas-rigged worm, a Zoom Horny Toad or a Buckeye Lures buzzbait.”
