Lake Hartwell Fishing Report May 2012

GON Staff | April 26, 2012

Hartwell: Level: 7.1 feet below full pool. Temp: High 60s to low 70s. Clarity: Super clear.

Bass: Good. Tournament angler Kerry Partain said the fish are postspawn, and he’s catching them on what amounts to a summer pattern. Early and late, there’s a pretty good topwater bite for both largemouths and spots on main-lake points with a Zoom Super Fluke. Up in the day, switch over to a shaky head with a Zoom Swamp Crawler in green pumpkin. Bounce it around on the points in 15 to 20 feet of water. Kerry said he’s been catching some good 3- and 4-lb. fish this way.
