Lake Hartwell Fishing Report – June 2024

GON Staff | May 29, 2024

Hartwell: Level: 0.6 above 660. Temp: Mid to upper 70s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Trent Gober, with Fish Hartwell Guide Service, said the topwater bite should be strong. Fish white flukes and chrome Spooks on sunny days and a white Spook and fluke on cloudy days.  A fast-moving hard swimbait, like the Fickle made by Southern Hook Lures, will work great on schooling fish. Later in the month, fish will be moving to deeper brush and canepiles. Wind helps this bite a lot. Cast a topwater bait that you can move fast, or keep a fluke just under the surface reeling it fast. If there is no wind, drop shot a green-pumpkin Trick Worm in the brush 18 to 30 feet deep. Look for bream beds. Bass not eating herring will key on bream. Fish around the beds with a topwater popper or drag a jig through the beds.
