Lake Hartwell Fishing Report June 2018

GON Staff | May 31, 2018

Hartwell: Level: 1 foot above full. Temp: 76-80 degrees. Clarity: Main lake is clear, stained in the creeks and rivers.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing is still challenging right now, but some days are better than others, depending on the weather. The recent rains have really got the fish scattered out with the lake being so full, but the majority of the bass are making their way to the main-lake humps, points and structure. The topwater bite has been hit or miss, but I have been catching my bigger fish with a Zoom Super Fluke on a Dobyn’s weightless worm rod. For numbers of fish, the drop shot and Carolina rigs have been better fishing anywhere from the edges of the shallow flooded grass out to 15 feet deep. As the water continues to warm up this month, expect the typical summertime patterns to improve, but there will also be some largemouth shallow feeding on the bream beds, especially around the full moon.”
