Lake Hartwell Fishing Report February 2013

GON Staff | January 30, 2013

Hartwell: Level: 9.6 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Linesides:
Good. Guide Preston Harden reports, “Since Jan. 1, the fish have grouped up and are feeding well. There is still not much surface activity, though. I thought the water was warm last year, but 57 degrees on Jan. 15 is something I have never seen. It looks like this will be the warmest winter ever. Look for fish around the seagulls in the major creeks and the river arms. Small flukes cast around fish marked on the graph will catch suspended fish. Work a jigging spoon off the bottom, if the fish are close to the bottom on the graph. If you use bait, try medium shiners on light line. If the water stays warm, herring will also work.”
