Lake Hartwell Fishing Report August 2015

GON Staff | July 30, 2015

Hartwell: Level: 1.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 85-88 degrees. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been consistent the last few weeks as the bait and bass have set up in their typical summer patterns. There are a lot of spotted bass on the main-lake drops from 20 to 30 feet along humps, points, timber and brush, and you can catch them on a drop shot or Carolina rig throughout the day. There has been some schooling activity late in the evenings, and they will bite a Zoom Super Fluke and other topwater baits. You have to throw on the schooling bass fast because we haven’t had much luck calling them back up after they quit chasing the bait. As we go into August, the fishing shouldn’t change much. If you find big schools of bass, try different baits and presentations until you figure out what works best, and fish them several times throughout the day.”
