Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – May 2020

GON Staff | April 30, 2020

Eufaula: Level: 0.9 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Upper 60s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Guide Sam Williams reports, “The bass are still trying to work the shallows. If you see bait or bird activity, work these areas out with different baits until you get a strike. Try to match the bait with similar lures and size. The fish will need to be finessed, so be patient. If the area is still really muddy, choose noisy lures like buzzbaits, spinnerbaits over the top or ChatterBaits ripped on the edges. The deeper fish are still hitting crankbaits and Carolina rigs with big soft plastics. We are still planning on our scheduled dates for the Scott Woodruff Heart Transplant Tournament May 23 and the Alabama Childrens Classic Bass Tournament June 13. Please watch our website and newsletters for our latest updates. We pray all this confusion will be over by then. Sign up for our newsletter at www.alabamachildrensclassic.org.”

Crappie: Guide Sam Williams reports, “Crappie are hitting minnows on the ledges in the creeks. Work the areas slow. Try the grass edges, you will find them in these areas, too. The crappie are scattered right now in different stages of the spawn.”
