Lake Eufaula Fishing Reports – July 2020

GON Staff | June 25, 2020

Eufaula: Level: 1 foot below 190 full pool. Temp: Low 80s. Clarity: Light stain to clear down the lake.

Bass: Guide Sam Williams reports, “The fishing on the river continues to get hotter every day. The tournament fishermen are bringing in 20-lb. bags. The shallow bite is still great early and late. Frogs are doing well, just remember you need to feel the fish before you set the hook. It is hard to hold back on the hook set when you see that monster blow up on a frog. Blade baits are still a great choice, and when that bite slows, shaky heads and Texas-rigged Trick Worms are getting good fish. The deeper fish continue to like Carolina rigs with bigger dark worms and creature baits. Heavy jigs with creature-bait trailers are also working, as are larger crankbaits. When you see the schooling fish, a lipless crankbait with a dot on the side to emulate a threadfin shad will get some good action.”

Crappie: “The crappie have finally settled in on a summer pattern and are holding on man-made and natural structure in 10 to 18 feet of water,” said guide Sam Williams. “Minnows and jigs work in the brushpiles.”
