Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – September 2010

GON Staff | August 25, 2010

Eufaula: Level: 1 foot above full pool. Temp: Mid 80s to low 90s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass:
Fair. Capt. Sam Williams reports, “Bass are still working the shallows until mid morning. The frog bite is still working, but topwater poppers are really doing the trick around cover. The Fin-tech Knuckleball jig is working well rigged with soft plastics. It can be worked like a swimming jig, a Texas rig or fished like a shaky head.” Sam said the deep-water bite is back to being stubborn. He recommends deep-diving crankbaits and Carolina rigs fished on the main channel ledges as the best bets. Try to find secondary structure on the ledges like stumps or channel bends. “Run the cranks really slowly, and when fishing plastics, the Fin-tech Tech Stick sinkers are really eliminating the hang ups you would get when Carolina rigging with the conventional bullet-type weights,” Sam said.
