Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – October 2019

GON Staff | September 24, 2019

Eufaula: Level: 1.7 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Mid to upper 80s. Clarity: Lightly stain; clear on the south end.

Bass: Tournament angler Les Bratcher #bigbitebaits #alxrods, of Big Bite Baits, reports, “Fishing on Lake Eufaula is fair at best. The fish just aren’t biting as usual. It took 20 pounds to win the Boyd’s Marine Classic this weekend, but the weights really fell off, with only 12 pounds needed to get a check. The fish are being caught out deep on plastics and flutter spoons. The shallow fish are biting toads and plastics. The bass on Eufaula seem to be scattered right now, and whichever approach you choose, you will have to grind. Hopefully fall will come soon and cool things off and get the bite going. Tight lines.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The hot summer pattern continues. The bite is slow, and the presentation needs to be even slower. Early morning and late afternoon, shallow fish are hitting wacky-rigged Trick Worms with a tiny split-shot above the hook. Pink is still working. ChatterBaits and spinnerbaits are also working. Frogs worked over the pad fields are getting hit, as well. Deep fish are hitting Carolina rigs with big worms. Crankbaits and lipless cranks are a good choice. Shallow crankbaits worked around rip-rap and pad fields are also getting a few bites.”

Crappie: Guide Sam Williams reports, “The Eufaula crappie are still in deep cover. Find the trashpiles, and work them with minnow-tipped jigs.”
