Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – October 2010

GON Staff | September 29, 2010

Eufaula: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid to upper 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. Capt. Sam Williams reports, “Bass are hitting at first light on frogs and topwater poppers. Soft plastics fished on the FinTech Nuckle Ball jig are doing well all morning. The schooling fish are not hitting on the topwater poppers or lipless crankbaits like normal. We are using the red-bug Emerald Strike Ring Worm and throwing it on the far side of the action. Be ready for an instant strike. If it does not happen, slow-roll the bait back to the boat; this will also get a hit. We are still using the prototype Revere Maxx weedless topwater frog. The production models are expected in the stores in about 60 days.”

Bream: Sam reports, “Panfish are heating up, and the next full moon will be good for working the bank line with wigglers or crickets.”

Crappie: Sam reports, “Crappie are moving up and are getting hotter every day. The night fishermen are doing well. The daytime jig action is good. Find the bridges and causeways, and fish the western shadow breaks from mid-morning until noon.”

Catfish:
Sam reports, “Catfish are doing great as always. Bigger ones are coming off of cut bait in deeper water.”
