Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – May 2021

GON Staff | April 29, 2021

Eufaula: Level: 0.9 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Moderate to heavy stain.

Bass: Guide Sam Williams, of Hawk’s Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The bass are working the shallows really heavy now, and the blade baits are doing very good. Soft plastic on a Texas rig, jigs and shaky heads are getting more consistent all the time. The frog bite is picking up, and as the pads and grass continue to develop, it will be even hotter. The old pad areas in behind some of the islands are beginning to develop under the surface, and the baitfish and bass are moving into these areas, as well. Topwater like Spooks and poppers and soft and hard jerkbaits are doing the trick in these areas. Bladed jigs are always a good choice in dirty water. The deeper fish are hitting deep crankbaits and Carolina rigs baited with big plastics. In May, concentrate on the mid-depth brushpiles on ditches that are on flats between the spawning areas and the main-lake ledges.”

Crappie: Sam Williams reports, “Crappie are biting better on minnows in the trashpiles. The night fishermen are out in good numbers around the causeway and bridge pilings fishing under lights.”

Bream: “The shellcracker and bluegill are beginning to do well on the beds,” said Sam Williams. “Bream fishermen have been doing really well down south in the dam area.”
