Lake Eufaula Fishing Report May 2019

GON Staff | April 30, 2019

Eufaula: Level: 2 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Mid 70s. Clarity: Moderate stain.

Bass: Tournament pro Les Bratcher (#bigbitebaits #alxrods), of Big Bite Baits, reports, “Lake Eufaula has been on fire with lots of big bags caught over the last few weeks. The bite has been so good it took almost 100 pounds to win the ABA National Championship. The shad spawn is in full force all over the lake, and it makes for some early frog and swim jig fishing. Anglers are still catching fish offshore on all types of bait. The shallow water bite is good, as well, depending on the water level. You can target those fish with whatever type of presentation you like. Really you can come and catch fish the way you choose to. Make sure you cover a lot of water, and have a fun time. Tight lines till the next time.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “Bass are still working shallow to mid-range depths early. Shaky heads and blade baits are good choices. Topwater plugs on edges of grass and cover will get a bite. Shallow-running squarebill cranks around rip-rap do well, also. The ledge fish are around the cover, natural and man made. Deep cranks and Carolina rigs are the tickets on the ledges. The lake is fishing really hot if the fronts settle down. It’s a great time to get out and catch a good mess of whatever species you have a taste for. Please remember our 19th annual Alabama Children’s Classic tournament (www.alabamachildrensclassic.org) coming up May 31 and June 1. We will have 10 post 9/11 combat warriors fishing as our guests this year. Our captains will host the Darby’s Warrior Support Heros. The public is invited to the Friday night safety meeting at the Eufaula Community Center and the tournament at Lake Point on Saturday.”
