Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – March 2025

Eufaula: Level: 1.2 feet above 188. Temp: 52 degrees. Clarity: Muddy. 

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The cold fronts and rain have the river dirty and cold. The fish are still very lethargic in this cold water. The bass are holding deep near man-made and natural cover. Deep crankbaits are getting some action when you slow-roll them through areas holding fish. It takes patience to aggravate a fish to strike. When you locate fish holding deep, a jig rigged with a large creature bait can be worked slower. As the water clears, a large jigging spoon worked vertically is a good way to keep a bait in front of them. If you want to try a Carolina rig, the red/black Senko is still the better color in this dirty water. When the sun gets up, you can work the causeways and railroad rip-rap where the water will heat up around the rock structure. A lighter-weight jig rigged with a creature bait or a Texas-rigged red/black Senko will get a hit.”

Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams, with Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “Crappie are in deeper water holding on the structure. They are eating minnows and minnow-tipped jigs. Catfish are deep and like cutbait for their menu on jugs. Nightcrawlers fished on the creek bottoms are the trick for the rod-and-reel fishermen. The panfish are still around the bank cover. Wigglers and crickets are always the way to get them. The cold and windy weather makes it very uncomfortable to be out on the water early. You must dress very warm in layers. A good rain suit is good for blocking the cold-cutting wind. You must keep water handy and drink it. It is easy to become dehydrated in the cold since you are not sweating and hot to make you thirsty. The lake is coming back, and spring fishing looks to be hot again. We must eat every spotted bass we catch. There is no size limit on them. They do still count in your creel limit daily. Pray for our heroes in uniform and their families as they step up and protect us every day. Pray for one another as God has instructed. We need American to get on our knees and ask God to heal our hearts and ask Him to come into our heart and soul and live within us. If we have His love within us, we will have no room for hate. Be sure and thank Him for the blessings He pours out on us daily. Outdoors folks, lets begin a revival in our nation.”
