Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – March 2024
GON Staff | February 28, 2024
Eufaula: Level: 0.5 feet above 188. Temp: 59 degrees. Clarity: Muddy.
Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, “The winter rains, storms and high winds have made the river extremely muddy. The fish are scattered. The bass that are being caught are coming on noisy baits like bladed jigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and crankbaits with big shot inside. Soft plastic worms with rattles inserted are causing some noise, as well. Red colors are the best choice in the dirty water. There are reports of stripers being caught in the river. Hybrids are hitting silver spoons near the bridges, causeway and railroad trestle. The March Lee King Memorial Bass Tournament has been canceled due to the inability to take applications via the website. Please keep up with us on Facebook, and we will do our best to hold the planned September tournament.”
Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams reports, “Crappie are being taken on jigs worked around the docks downriver. Fish the vertical pilings Catfish are eating crawlers on the creek ledges while bottom fishing. In high winds, jugs are hard to keep up with. Pray for all our heroes in uniform and their families as they suit up every day to keep us safe. Pray for one another as well. God tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves.”
