Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – March 2019

GON Staff | February 26, 2019

Eufaula: Level:0.5 feet high. Temp: Low 60s. Clarity: River is clearing up.

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams reports, “Bass are moving to the shallows, so ChatterBaits and spinners around old pad stems are working. Plastics are also working in the same areas. Rip-rap is holding fish, so small-lipped crankbaits are working. Deeper fish are hitting heavy jigs and Carolina rigs. Big plastics worked slow are a good choice. Deep crankbaits also work. For a good choice for the deep fish with a slow presentation, use a smaller size crankbait on your Carolina rig, and drag the weight slowly across the bottom and around trash. Keeping the lure in front of them longer will entice a strike.”

Other: Capt. Sam Williams reports, “Crappie are holding deep on natural and man-made structure in 16 to 28 feet of water. Minnow-tipped jigs worked just above them are doing the trick. Panfish are in the brush along the banks, and worms are the best choice now. Catfish are working on jugs baited with cutbait in the creeks.”
