Lake Eufaula Fishing Report June 2015

GON Staff | May 28, 2015

Eufaula: Level: 2.2 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: 82-85 degrees. Clarity: Lightly stained.

Bass: Good. Tournament angler Les Bratcher reports, “Due to the changing water levels here at Eufaula, most anglers are catching both shallow and deep fish. The shad spawn has been taking place, and fishermen are catching bass early around this and moving to deeper structure as the day rolls on. Most anglers are catching fish early on frogs, buzzbaits and swim jigs. Deeper fish are being caught on crankbaits, swimbaits and plastics of all types. With the lower water levels and heat, look for the bass to move offshore in the next couple of weeks until the mayflies show up. The FLW Tour will be in town this week, and it will be interesting to see how the pros catch them and the techniques they use.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “Fishing has been very good lately. Loads of smaller bass being caught, as well as bigger ones if you are willing to work an area out very slow. The tournament fishermen are running on deeper trash piles as the lake continues to drop with no explanation. Heavy spinnerbaits are doing a good job. A military event just finished three great days of fishing with 54+ pounds for three days winning the event. The days are heating up, and you need to be sure and have plenty of water and suntan lotion. The water level is constantly changing, so be cautious when running outside the river markers.”
